People Say...It's Just the Way the Stars Shine.... And it Really Isn't Love at All

Starting off the Summer Jukebox, I'm posting The Dixie Cups' other Top 20 hit -- a longing-filled ode to short-lived summer romances...  This one hit #12 in the summer of 1964

Known primarily for the million-selling hit Chapel of Love, the Dixie Cups were two sisters and a cousin plucked from a New Orleans housing project and signed to girl-group label Red Bird Records.  They were originally supposed to be called Little Miss and the Muffets, but luckily someone thought better of that.

People Say was written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich, jointly responsible for many many 60s pop confections that will probably show up here.  But for this inaugural post, here's a nice montage video stolen from youtube...
